Dominican Baseball

I recently spent a week in the Dominican Republic with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. I stayed a few extra days and checked back in with the baseball documentary. When I was there last year, Raymel Flores was about to sign his professional contract. He and his family were anxiously awaiting the July deadline. After I left, he signed with the Boston Red Sox and immediately reported to their Dominican Academy. Earlier this year, after receiving his signing bonus, he bought his mother a new home in San Pedro de Macoris. I visited him at the Red Sox camp and at his mother’s new house. I also went back to the program where Raymel lived before he signed his contract to see the next wave of talent who are hoping to sign this coming July.
